The Petroleum Engineering Department at the College of Engineering at the University of Kerbala organized an awareness event for first-year students titled “Principles of Combating Extremism in the University Environment.” The event was part of cultural and educational activities aimed at promoting the values ​​of coexistence and openness among students.

The event focused on addressing the manifestations of extremism that may arise as a result of differences in color, race, nationality, religion, sect, or geographical affiliation between rural and urban areas. It was emphasized that these classifications should not be a cause for discrimination or division.

The event also featured a lecture by Professor Wajdi Abdul Abbas Nour, a lecturer in the Petroleum Engineering Department and a member of the Central Committee for Liaison. He addressed the role of the university as a knowledge-based institution that seeks to achieve justice and equality among all students, highlighting the importance of building human beings free from any exclusionary or discriminatory tendencies.

The event witnessed remarkable interaction from the students, who demonstrated their enthusiasm and interest by actively participating with their opinions and questions. This contributed to creating a constructive and open dialogue atmosphere that reflected the students’ academic and social awareness.
